Kanzi Panbanisha Elikya
         
Kanzi
Kanzi’s achievements and cognitive abilities are world renowned. He is regarded as the first ape to demonstrate real comprehension of spoken speech.
  Panbanisha
Panbanisha is an adult female bonobo at Great Ape Trust. She is the daughter of Matata and mother to Nyota and Nathan.
  Elikya
Elikya, whose name means ‘hope,’ is the daughter of Matata and P-Suke, Although a juvenile, she’s proving to be an excellent caregiver.
         
Maisha   Matata   Nathan
         
Maisha
The second youngest member of the Great Ape Trust bonobo family, Maisha is the son of Matata and P-Suke.
  Matata
The matriarch of the Great Ape Trust bonobo family, Matata is the adopted mother of Kanzi and the birth mother of Panbanisha, Maisha and Elikya.
  Nathan
Nathan is the youngest member of the Great Ape Trust bonobo family and is the son of Panbanisha and P-Suke.
         
Nyota   P-Suke    
         
Nyota
Nyota, the son of Panbanisha and P-Suke, is instrumental into the scientific research of cross-generational effects of language and culture.
  P-Suke
P-Suke was the father of four bonobos at Great Ape Trust: Nyota, Nathan, Elikya and Maisha. His name meant ‘little gentleman’ in Japanese.
