Dr. Kathy Schick is the co-director of the Stone Age Institute in Bloomington, Ind. The Stone Age Institute is an independent research center dedicated to the archaeological study of human origins and technological development. International in scope, the purpose of the Stone Age Institute is to advance research and education in human origins studies, including fellowship support to visiting scholars, publication of books and articles, mentoring the next generation of scientists drawn from global talent and intellect, and educational outreach to the general public.
Kathy Schick received her Ph.D. in 1984 from The University of California at Berkeley. Her interests in Old World prehistory, palaeoanthropology, archaeological site formation, zooarchaeology, lithic technology, and primate studies have led her to conduct fieldwork in Africa, Asia and Europe, as well as laboratory research in the United States. She was elected as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2004, and received the Distinguished Faculty Research Award from Indiana University in 1997. |
